Pro Bono Week 2025 – Sheffield & District Law Society’s Pro Bono Committee

The Sheffield & District Law Society’s Pro Bono Committee are celebrating Pro Bono Week on Tuesday 4th November at 5:30pm – 6:30pm.

This is an incredible opportunity to help spark engagement with pro bono work across South Yorkshire, and showcase the dedication and commitment of giving back to our communities. We would welcome people to share this event to those they feel would benefit from the event, listening to those who do pro bono work, and how to get involved.

We are looking forward to hearing a number of ‘Stories of Impact’ from legal professionals. A full ‘line-up’ of speakers will follow in due course but will include speakers from the judiciary, Advocate, solicitors and further education providers conducting pro bono work.

We are also inviting those attending to think about how they can use their legal skills to contribute to their community and make a ‘Pro Bono Pledge’ for the upcoming year.

If you would like to attend, please email caitlin.diamond@irwinmitchell.com

Pro Bono Week 2025: Scottish Pro Bono Roundtable – Advancing Justice Together – Faculty of Advocates’ Free Legal Advice Unit

The Faculty of Advocates Free Legal Services Unit, as part of the newly formed Scottish Pro Bono Roundtable, is delighted to host an event at the Mackenzie Building on Thursday 6 November entitled Scottish Pro Bono Roundtable: Advancing Justice Together

This in-person event will feature an innovative and interactive format, bringing together members of the newly established Scottish Pro Bono Roundtable alongside representatives from across Scotland. Together, they will explore key themes shaping the future of pro bono work. The Roundtable is currently compromised of representatives from various legal organisations, charities, and law firms not only in Scotland but nationally.

Each table will be facilitated with a Table Lead from the Roundtable and a Graphic Scribe, who will visually capture the discussions in real time—creating a compelling visual summary to be shared across Scotland to promote awareness and engagement in pro bono legal services.

The event will be chaired by Neil Mackenzie KC, Convenor of the Free Legal Services Unit and Keeper of the Library.

A networking reception will follow the discussions with a chance to have some refreshments and offering a chance to connect and reflect on the challenges facing legal services in Scotland with others across the legal and access to justice sectors who share a commitment to pro bono work.

This event will be in-person only. Registration is free and will remain open until Thursday 30 October 2025. Registration Link: Pro Bono Week 2025: Scottish Pro Bono Roundtable – Advancing Justice Together

Pro Bono in Practice: Skills, Stories and Starting Points. How lawyers make a difference – professionally and personally – hosted by CLEO in collaboration with the NPBC

Clinical Legal Education Organisation (CLEO) are proud to celebrate Pro Bono Week in collaboration with the National Pro Bono Centre (NPBC).

We invite you to our event which will explore the idea of General Practice Pro Bono, where lawyers use their core legal skills to give first-tier advice regardless of what their usual practice area is. By focusing on the legal specific skills rather than the specialism,  the pool of potential legal advisors available to the pro bono sector vastly increases and a wider number of people are supported to access justice in the first instance.

It is hoped this event will inspire lawyers to use the skills they already have to help someone access justice and to partner with a local organisation that provides pro bono advice such as a law centre, advice centre or university law clinic.

Speaking at the event are:

  • David Powels: CEO at Norfolk Community Law Service.
  • Sarah Clover: Partner at Clyde & Co and CEO of South Westminster Community Law Centre.
  • Diana Kirsch: Pro bono lead at LSE.
  • Rita Gupta: Director at Leiper Gupta Family Lawyers
  • Juan Pena – General Counsel at Visa

Online Event Only.
