Administrative Law Bar Association – Introduction to Judicial Review Series

This three part series (held via Zoom) is an introductory course about the practice and procedure of judicial review. It is primarily intended for pupils, “junior junior” public law practitioners, or experienced barristers interested in developing a judicial review practice (although solicitors and law students are also welcome to attend).

Each webinar will be chaired by Alice Irving (Doughty Street) and led by experienced and knowledgeable public practitioners as set out below:

  • Tuesday 4 November 2025, 6-7pm – Preparing a claim for issue – Shu Shin Luh (Doughty Street) and Charles Bishop (Landmark)
  • Wednesday 12 November 2025, 6-7pm – The permission decision – Steve Broach KC (39 Essex) and Emily MacKenzie (Brick Court)
  • Wednesday 19 November 2025, 6-7pm –  The substantive hearing – Jason Pobjoy KC (Blackstone) and Donnchadh Greene (Doughty Street)

These sessions are free but are for ALBA members and pupils only. You will be required to request a place to attend. If you are a pupil and not a member of ALBA, please indicate this clearly in the comments section, otherwise your request may be rejected. Each confirmed booking will cover all three sessions. The Zoom link for each session will be sent out the evening prior to the respective webinar.
