Tackling Online Sexual Exploitation of Children: Strengthening sentences for UK offenders – IJM

November 5, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

IJM UK would like to invite you to a virtual roundtable to discuss how we better tackle demand in the UK for the online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC).

IJM’s End OSEC Hub, based in the Philippines, will shortly be publishing a report examining a trend of lenient sentences for those convicted of OSEC-related offences in the UK. We are concerned that the sentences imposed on UK offenders are not commensurate with the serious of the harm they have caused to children around the world..

This roundtable will be a chance to discuss the report’s findings and recommendations. In addition to IJM’s team in the Philippines, we will be joined by:

  • Iain Drennan, Executive Director, WePROTECT Global Alliance
  • Sara Carnegie, Director, Legal Projects, International Bar Association
  • Dame Sara Thornton, Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner
