Pro Bono in the Age of AI: A Launchpad for Next Gen Lawyers – Baker McKenzie and Fieldfisher

November 4 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join the pro bono, clinical legal education and legal studies communities to discuss AI, pro bono, and the future legal professional. Queen Mary University London’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies is hosting a panel discussion followed by an interactive in-person workshop exploring the ways in which student pro bono work can, does and should harness the power of AI to prepare students for life in modern-day practice.

The event will examine how student pro bono initiatives can – and should – use AI to better prepare aspiring lawyers for modern legal practice. Co-sponsored by Baker McKenzie and Fieldfisher, the session will begin with insights from leading experts in a hybrid panel discussion, followed by an in-person World Café-style hackathon designed to crowdsource practical solutions to common AI challenges in student-led pro bono work.

Speakers:

  • Dr Francine Ryan: Senior Lecturer in Law and Director of the Open Justice Centre
  • Jimin Park: Final year LLB Law student at QMUL
  • Paul McMonagle: Enterprise Architect at Taylor Wessing
  • Catriona Filmer: Senior Pro Bono Associate at Fieldfisher and member of the UK Collaborative Plan’s AI Committee
  • Andy Unger: Associate Professor in Law & Tech at London South Bank University

  • Date: Tuesday 4 November
  • Hybrid Panel Discussion: 10am to 10:40am
  • In-person Workshop: 10:45am to 11:30am
