SUMMARY:Launch of Trainee Hackathon - Birmingham Law Society Pro Bono Committee
DESCRIPTION:Birmingham Trainee Solicitors’ Society and Birmingham Law Society Pro Bono Committee invites trainee solicitors to pit their wits against one of the biggest access to justice issues in recent history. Local advice charities have seen demand for their services soar throughout the pandemic and they have had to adapt quickly to meet that need. What can Birmingham’s trainee solicitor community do to support legal advice charities in these challenging times\, as well as more generally?   \nIf you are up to the challenge\, we will release a brief a week before the event so that you can form a team and take part in the pro bono week hackathon. Don’t worry if you don’t have a team\, we can place you with one. \nDuring this session\, participants will have the opportunity to find out more about the problem facing legal advice charities and ask the panel questions. \nPanel: \nNatasha Alton\, Charities and Corporate Responsibility Officer\, Birmingham Trainee Solicitors Society \nRachel Sutcliffe\, Trainee Solicitor\, Anthony Collins \nAmy Tabari\, Corporate Responsibility Manager\, Gowling WLG \nMichael Bates\, Head of Services for Birmingham\, Central England Law Centre
