The use of technology in pro bono – advantages, pitfalls and lessons learned

November 3, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

IBA 2020

A session presented by the IBA Pro Bono Committee. When considering using technology in the provision of pro bono services, it is important to first understand and learn from others as to what has and has not worked. The session will discuss the importance of a design-based and user-based approach to understand and best identify how to design systems that meet the needs of users, including topics such as crowdfunding, the use of blockchain technology and the digitization of the free legal advice community.

Panelists include:

David Greene, Vice-President, Law Society of England and Wales

James Harper, Lexis Nexis

Ana Higuera Garrido, Fernando Pombo Foundation, Madrid, Spain

PLUS – Access to virtual post-session networking

Participants will also have access to a virtual Networking Hub at the end of this session for attendees to join and video chat with other participants. Delegates can join and move around the tables to interact with multiple people in one networking session. A link to access the Networking Hub will be provided at the end of the session.
