Scotland Legal Roundtable – TrustLaw

TrustLaw invites you to attend its virtual Legal Roundtable: Strengthening pro bono in Scotland. We will share our Championing Pro Bono Guide and facilitate a conversation about helpful practices as well as challenges and lessons learnt. We will also hear about current pro bono legal opportunities in Scotland as well as a pro bono case study.

TrustLaw is the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s free global pro bono legal service. We connect the best lawyers in the world to non-profits and social enterprises working to create social and environmental change. We work with legal teams, both law firms and in-house teams, globally to help spread the practice of pro bono worldwide. 

As part of our work, we help assess what pro bono legal teams are doing already (if any) and offer resources to make it easier to do more pro bono. Earlier this year, we launched our Championing Pro Bono Guide, which covers a range of ways lawyers can assess and strengthen their team’s pro bono work. It includes a checklist to assess your firm’s pro bono practice, as well as resources on debunking common pro bono myths and tips to make the most of your pro bono experience. 

During this virtual Legal Roundtable, we will introduce our Guide and facilitate a conversation about ways to assess and strengthen your firm’s pro bono work. The virtual session will be an inclusive space to share helpful practices and lessons learnt together with lawyers from firms of all sizes and at different stages of their pro bono journey. It will be hosted under the Chatham House Rules.

We will also hear from TrustLaw, Inspiring Scotland and the University of Edinburgh on current pro bono opportunities in Scotland, as well as learnings from a pro bono matter in support of a Scottish non-profit.
